Mel and I went here while we were in Sydney. It is rated anywhere from the 3rd to 5th best restaurant in the world depending on who you ask. It was incredible, I can't adequately describe it. There were some courses where I would eat, drink the wine and then just hold my nose in the wine glass and daze off into ecstasy. www.tetsuyas.com/index.htmlIn case you don't want to look at the site here was the menu we had: Pea Soup with Bitter Chocolate Sorbet Smoked Ocean Trout & Avruga Caviar Leek & Crab Custard Scallop Carpaccio with Red Wine Vinaigrette Confit of Petuna Tasmanian Ocean Trout with Konbu, Daikon & Fennel Seasonal Green Salad Ravioli of Queensland Spanner Crab with Tomato & Basil Vinaigrette Grilled Fillet of Barramundi with Braised Nameko, Enoki & Woodear Mushrooms Twice Cooked De-Boned Spatchcock with Olive & Caper Jus Grilled Wagyu Beef with Lime & Wasabi Comte with Lentils Betroot & Blood Orange Sorbet Strawberry Shortcake Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with White Beans & Dates Chocolate Terrine with Mascarpone & Cognac Anglaise Coffee or Tea & Petit Four

I ate at Jacala. The service was terrible, and the rice and beans were flavorless, but the puffy tacos were pretty decent. Here's a picture that isn't of puffy tacos:

On Sunday my parents took Mary and I (for our anniversary) to JP's American Bistro in Minneapolis...
[ftp]http://www.jpamericanbistro.com/index.cfm[/ftp]
They setup a tasting menu with Champagne and a wine pairing.
Menu:
First Course: FRIED ITALIAN FLATBREAD DRIZZLED WITH SAGE HONEY, SERVED WITH ROASTED FRUIT AND ARTISAN BLUE CHEESE 10.50 **The "roasted fruit was actually a cranberry chutney.**
Second Course: JP'S RUSTIC PIZZA WITH APPLEWOOD SMOKED BACON, CASHEW/CURRANT PESTO AND PECORINO-ROMANO 12.50 **This they paired with a Napa Valley White Burgandy, which was more heavy and dry like a usual Burgandy, but smooth and clean like a normal white wine!**
Third Course: BUTTER LETTUCE SALAD WITH APPLE, GORGONZOLA BLUE CHEESE AND TOASTED HAZELNUTS DRESSED IN A LEMON VINAIGRETTE 5.50/11.00 **If you've never had butter lettuce, it is the most tender leaf you will ever try!**
Fourth Course: POTATO GNOCCHI WITH ORGANIC BROCCOLI, PICKLED HABANERO AND PECORINO-ROMANO 10.50/21.00 **The Gnocchi was the softest I have ever had... I think they used a combination of Cake Flour and All Purpose.**
Fifth Course: PAPPARDELLE WITH LAMB/FENNEL SAUSAGE, TOMATO, SPRING PEAS AND PARMESAN 11.50/23.00 **The Maitre d' gave this to us as a complementary because he really wanted us to try the lamb/fennel sausage.**
Sixth Course: OVEN-ROASTED STAR PRAIRIE TROUT STUFFED WITH ROCK SHRIMP, CORN BREAD AND CARAMELIZED RED ONION, SERVED WITH A CUCUMBER/FENNEL SALAD 27.50 **This course was everybody's favorite! The fish was moist, tender, packed with flavor, and baked perfectly. My mouth still waters just thinking about it!**
Seventh Course: CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES RESTED ATOP VANILLA CHANTILLY, DRIZZLED WITH A RHUBARB/STRAWBERRY REDUCTION 10.00 **the perfect amount of dessert after such a filling meal.**
One of the more trendy (but unique to Minnesota) aspects of this restaurant was that their Foie Gras (FWAH-GRAH) is free range rather than force fed... Which means a smaller liver, but more ethical... And about $50 more per LB!

I have been eating ship food since I am out at sea. So far we have had every breakfast food imaginable, chili dogs, prime rib, baked salmon, asparagus stuffed chicken in coconut curry. The chief steward is really good for what he has to work with. I think they caught some Ono off the back of the boat that we will be eating later today.

For the last couple days, my buddy Tobias has fed me something composed of fried hominy, bratwurst, green peppers, hot sauce, mozzarella cheese, and chopped-up tater tots. It's going to kill me, but I will die happy.

I've been eating a lot of kimchi and rice. But I've also been making this tuna and egg dish. It's just tuna and eggs fried in a pan. Sometimes if I have cheese I'll put cheese in it.
